Spanish Colonial
was the architectural style of preference among the early giants
of the film industry, from Douglas Fairbanks to Charlie
Chaplin. The great architects of that era who mastered this
style included George Washington Smith, Wallace Neff, and Paul
Williams, among others. Their attention to detail and
craftsmanship is what made this style so enduring and authentic.
Villa Adelaide has been created with this same commitment to
detail and craftsmanship.
The exterior appointments of the Villa
include: Heavily-mortared, old-world, clay
tile roof; exposed, hand-distressed wood
beams, corbels, and overhangs; round
plastered columns; and a pointed arch
Andulasian window. Also included are
painted Mexican tiles, large covered
verandas, flagstone terraces and motor
court, and hand-distressed wooden shutters,
with matching carriage-style garage doors
and entry gate.
Interior appointments of the Villa include:
Hand-painted fireplaces, ceilings and walls;
custom-forged iron handrails; fireplace
mantels; and light fixtures. Also included
are distressed wood floors, doors, cabinets,
and wood beam ceilings, with elaborate
painted Mexican tiles in all bathrooms,
kitchen and butler's pantry.
The careful consideration and placement of all
the details described above ensures that Villa
Adelaide will be an enduring expression of the
Spanish Colonial style.
